GEI Team presents Two Research Papers at World`s Largest Ophthalmic Conference in Las Vegas

A 2-member team of ophthalmologists representing Grewal Eye Institute (GEI), the premier comprehensive Eye Care Institute based at Chandigarh, has returned today after participating in the 4-day 2006 Joint Meet of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) & the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) from November 11-14, 2006 at Las Vegas, USA. The GEI team, led by its CEO Dr. SPS Grewal himself, presented 2 Papers on Pioneering Research Work done by GEI at the '2006 Joint Meet', the largest and most comprehensive ophthalmic educational meeting in the world.
The Objectives of the '2006 Meet' were : 1) To present recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases for ophthalmologists and elite health personal; 2) To provide a forum for the exchange of new research by Ophthalmologists / scientists working in the field of eye diseases; and 3) To provide opportunity, update, delegate knowledge of available pharmaceutical, medical, surgical and laser devices from manufacturers all over the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr SPS Grewal said, "The Joint Meet saw the single largest gathering of Ophthalmologic expertise in the world and it was an amazing experience not only to participate in the event but to be present our research work there. Such platforms are very important for our development as a Super Specialty Center that caters to varied fields of eye care. These meets not only provide us with the opportunity to showcase our research work to the international community, but also provide a glimpse of all the latest developments happening at the procedural eye care, vision restoration and the technology fronts all over the world."
The GEI team consisting of Dr SPS Grewal and Dr Dilraj Singh presented two research papers on "A Novel Reproducible Quantitative Analysis of Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO) on Pentacam Tomograms using Image J Freeware" and "Influence of 12, 25, 50 Image Acquisition Protocols of Pentacam on Data Analysis" at the 2006 Meet of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) & the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO). The new technique will help in research on PCO that developed after cataract surgery and play significant role for the cataract surgery care.
AAO is the world\'s largest association of eye physicians and surgeons with more than 27,000 members worldwide. The Meet included a plethora of joint sessions, pre-paper session, video presentations and symposiums featuring speakers and panelists from all over the world.
